About Left Face Report

My name is George Robles (row-bl-eh-z), I go by Robo in most online spaces. I am a retired combat vet turned anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, socialist. I’m from all over the U.S., but I’m of the Puerto Rican diaspora. I spent my early adult life serving U.S. empire; now I write so others can learn from my mistakes. I take what I learned growing up in conservative, right-wing Christianity and use it to show how and why those politics are so dangerous.

What you’ll find here

Left Face Report is where I talk about current events, class, race, media, and organizing in the US South. Some posts are personal stories as someone who drastically changed his politics. Others are essays that break down the news, calling out injustice, or share lessons from local campaigns and mutual aid.

Free vs paid subscriptions

No one does this to get rich. Most core essays will stay free. If something feels important for people to understand about Christianity and why I’m now an atheist, about capitalism, racism, or U.S. empire, I want it in front of as many people as possible. Paid subscribers get full archive access, the ability to comment and help shape what I cover next, plus occasional behind-the-scenes notes. Your support lets me keep most of this open and offer comped subs.

If you’re trying to make sense of how war, faith, capitalism, and everyday life collide, or you’re just tired of both-sides nonsense, hit subscribe. You don’t have to listen, but I’m going to tell my story anyway.

If you’re not in a position to be able to subscribe, that’s no sweat at all. You’re still welcome here. All I ask is that you at least consider sharing my Substack to others!
